I’m going to (mostly) ignore what happened between the USA and Belgium last night because right now, I just don’t have anything constructive to say.

A sincere apology to anyone who trusted me (and tailed my bet on USA), Christian Pulisic, Matt Freese and/or the rest of an American squad that just laid a historic egg at home.

If there’s a silver lining (there’s not), maybe it’s that Pulisic is going to get some rest now??

Colombia-Switzerland 3-Way Moneyline Odds (FD)

Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but I love this Colombia squad, which is priced at -162 to qualify at FD, compared to Switzerland at +132.

Remember, Colombia took Argentina to extra time in the 2024 Copa America final despite multiple key injuries. This squad also beat Uruguay in that tournament despite playing the entire second half of that match with 10 men.

At this World Cup, Colombia have only allowed one goal, back in their group stage opener vs. Uzbekistan. Los Cafeteros have since shut out DR Congo, Portugal and Ghana, and there was nothing fluky about any of those results.

Switzerland shouldn’t be faulted for their easy road to this point: Qatar, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Canada in group play, followed by a Round of 32 date with Algeria.

But that doesn’t mean I like their chances today against by far the best opponent they’ve faced to date.

DR Congo, Portugal and Ghana mustered only four shots on target combined vs. Colombia. Today, I like them to once again limit their opponent’s scoring chances, and I expect Bayern winger Luis Díaz and Colombia’s underrated attack to capitalize on their scoring chances better than they did against Portugal or Ghana.

If you’re looking for some upside, Colombia Win to Zero (+270 at DK) is worth a flier, like a quarter-unit or so.

For a safer bet on a side I fully expect to advance, one way or another, consider a 2-unit wager on Colombia at -155 to advance at DK.
